Why Sijhua's Soil Supports Healthy Organic Growth

Shravya Mishra10 May 2026 1 min read

Located near the fertile borders of Bokaro and Dhanbad in Jharkhand, Sijhua village boasts a unique geological soil composition. Our red soils are rich in natural iron oxide, giving them their characteristic warm terracotta hue.

The Red-Soil Advantage

Sijhua’s red-gravelly soils are naturally highly porous and well-aerated. This prevents waterlogging, which is a major cause of root-rot in clay-heavy fields. It allows delicate root networks (such as those of Herbs, Chillies, and Lemongrass) to expand deeply and absorb mineral nutrients freely.

Rebuilding Organic Matter with Compost

While red soil has excellent drainage, it requires robust organic matter to unlock its full potential. At Shravya Farms, we enrich our plots using deep-bed natural composting. By tilling rich cow-manure, vermicompost, forest leaf-molds, and neem-cakes into our beds, we create a spongy, moisture-holding topsoil.

Superior Taste & Health Benefits

Because our soil is completely free from urea and chemical insecticides, the crops absorb pure soil minerals. This slow, natural mineral absorption is why tomatoes grown in Sijhua have a richer, traditional sweetness, and why our herbs hold a far stronger therapeutic aroma than market equivalents.
